Change is the only constant. Have u heard anyone repeat the same thing over and over again to the point where you get annoyed that you just wanted to omit the entire sentence from your dictionary? You can never understand the meaning until it has become a practical experience that you have gone through multiple times.
Your favorite icecream flavor might no longer be chocolate and the switch to mint ice cream might be commencing. Black Widow might anger you with some of her actions and hence you might decide to switch to DC from Marvel. You might get bored of being the kid who sleeps at 10 PM and develops a sudden urge to stay up till 4 AM. A small injury might encourage you to quit a sport you have loved and passionately played for 8 years. Your brother might convince you to take up video games just to beat him at it even though you have never touched a controller in your life. The rain might suddenly seem soothing to you even though you have resented getting wet in the last decade.
You might have visited the beach to the point where that is the last place you would choose to visit right now. A girl who has appreciated the sun for all the daylight it provides us with might switch sides to the moon who gives us a torch during the darkest times. When you are sitting and thinking of what your desires are, your thoughts might change tomorrow after talking to someone else. The childhood home you have grown up in for 10 years, might have to be deconstructed due to the new owner’s preferences. The cousin who used to come to your place for breakfast might not be able to visit anymore due to unfortunate circumstances. Your best friend, your favorite shoulder to lean on might become the only stranger you have uncountable nicknames for. Likewise, a person you were uncomfortable giving your Instagram to might become the person you end up giving the world to.
The most talkative class clown might become the one who barely gets noticed in a crowd. The one who cries alone on the last bench might become the person who makes other people cry alone on the same benches that they used to be at. Hungry for hours, your hunger might vanish as soon as you see that plate of upma that appears on your dining table. A reminder of why you are working out every day might push you to finish that one extra pushup that you have been struggling with for the last 5 weeks. A small problem that you have been breaking your head over might disappear as soon as Amma gives you a warm heartfelt hug.
Change is hard, hard to accept, hard to gel with, and most importantly hard to manage. Even though it makes you want to throw pillows at the wall, cry your heart out and vent the loudest you can to your favorite person, it also makes you want to smile while you still have your teeth, be proud of everything you have been through and feel the adrenaline of something new happening. It is the only thing that is going to stick with you throughout apart from yourself (as everyone knows a trio is the best form of friendship). So, appreciate the changes and not to sound like a 50 year old who offers free advice to all young kids, but trust me when I say, everything happens for a reason. Been there, done that
