“I hope someday I’ll make it out of here…”
That line stayed with me more than I expected.
Not because it’s just a lyric, but because at some point, it didn’t feel like one. It felt like something I understood too well.
And when you’re in that kind of space; mentally, emotionally, it doesn’t matter how long it takes. You just hold on to the idea that things can change, even if it’s slowly, even if it’s uncertain.
That’s what Billie Eilish does best for me.
Her music doesn’t try to speed things up or turn everything into something okay. It sits with you in the middle of it all. The confusion, the heaviness, the quiet moments you don’t really talk about.
And somehow, that makes it easier.
Because it doesn’t feel like you’re being pushed to move on. It feels like you’re being understood first.
And maybe that’s what getting through things actually looks like.
Not fast. Not perfect.
Just eventually.
